A sales tool that cuts quote times in half?
Well, half... It could very well be 90% in some cases. But the biggest achievement here was to unite sales and engineering in a single app.
Engineering precision at sales speed
Stäubli's MULTILAM connectors carry massive currents inside medical equipment or 10kV+ switchgear. Only problem? The sales workflow relied on manual engineering approval for every single configuration, making the process cumbersome.
The traditional workflow required Sales to gather customer requirements, send them to Engineering via email, and wait for manual validation of parameters like Short Circuit Current ratings and asymmetric tolerances.
We built a Showpad app that embeds the engineering validation directly into the sales workflow.
Real-time collaboration, zero email chains
Instead of chunky email chains, our MULTILAM Selector provided a single source of truth for every role, with notifications, project logs, and clear queue times.
On top, the selector can generate a dynamic PDF that includes:
- Detailed cross-section schematics
- Dimension callouts with specific ISO tolerance notation
- Material specifications (e.g., plating thickness)
- Performance curves

To make this workflow viable, the app adapts its interface based on who is logging in:

For Sales: Speed and Flexibility
A 5-step wizard allows reps to capture over two dozen critical project parameters. Crucially, they can save drafts mid-conversation, allowing them to capture requirements live during customer meetings without losing progress. -
For Engineering: Precision Validation
The "Product View" transforms into a validation hub. Engineers see interactive technical schematics with live dimension overlays. They can input precision measurements (Dimensions B, C, D) and define asymmetric ISO tolerances. If a configuration is unsafe, they can decline it with specific feedback directly in the log. -
For HQ: Oversight
Management retains a high-level view of all projects with the authority to oversee approvals or cancel projects if strategic priorities change.
