Urology Matters: Helping men find online help

Do men talk enough about their “men problems”? Oof, don’t open that door. But they look things up online, that’s for sure.

On that topic, Boston Scientific had plenty of websites covering urology conditions, but the sprawl made it hard for patients to see the forest from the trees.

Knock knock on the BBC door: How might we create a single hub that offers clear information on urology conditions and helps patients, families, and caregivers to take the right medical steps?

A patient hub should be patient-centric

In reality, conditions such as, for example, prostate enlargement and urinary incontinence are often interlinked, and patients experience so-called comorbidities.

So our main goal was consolidation, guiding users from symptoms to treatment, and ensuring that when issues overlap, the answers do too.

Clearly, this chunk of a project required a 4-phased approach. Four is always good.

  • Phase 1: Prepare
A content audit, keyword analysis, and patient journey mapping helped us get found by the words patients know and search for.
  • Phase 2: Define
We structured the website to follow how patients think. From the first symptoms to testimonials after treatment, every bit of information logically fits the patient journey.
  • Phase 3: Design
Our UI team created a clean, empathetic visual language, while our copywriters turned 24 pages of medically accurate, SEO-optimized, and APA-proof content into words that patients understand.
  • Phase 4: Develop
Finally, we implemented the solution directly into the client's AEM environment.

Pee pee problems don’t rank well

Our hub needed to pop up whenever patients looked for help online. Together with the Boston Scientific team, we landed on a URL that said it all: urologymatters.com.

“End-of-funnel” keywords and SEO-proof webpages then made sure our hub ranked high enough for any relevant query typed.

The end value was a win-win: men and their families found the right care, and Boston Scientific drove demand for its minimally invasive portfolio through the doctors featured on the site."
